Mission:
To establish a dedicated facility for Badminton and the Arts.
Rationale:
Badminton, the world's fastest racquet sport, is the 2nd most popular sport in the world next to soccer, with 14 million members in 140 nation associations belonging to the IBF, however (the sport) is greatly underserved in the U.S. Arts activities enrich individuals and communities, and demand similar space requirements, as Badminton. The two make a complimentary team and may work powerfully together to establish community support and pursue funds for the project.
Activities
:
|
Free play, league play, tournaments, training for:
Art, Music & Dance Workshops Concerts Exhibits ACTION: The plan is to rennovate a building shell using a model similar that of "Habitat for Humanity". We hope to acquire a structure which is cuurently of little value in present condition, and use "sweat-equity" of community members to restore and rennovate into useable condition, with the assistance of a DCNR indoor recreation grant. So far Eric has discussed the project several times with the Phoenixville borough Manager, and the county DCNR representative. He also attended the DCNR grant writing workshop this past Spring. The prospect looks positive for funding for a feasibility study! There is much to do, however, to prepare for this. Please volunteer to assist us with this project! |
